Frequently Asked Questions
What are the key specifications of this marquee?
The marquee measures 9 m (width) × 18 m (length), with a leg height of approximately 2.30 m and an apex height of around 5.10 m. It features strong aluminium keder channel legs (84 mm × 48 mm), 102 mm diameter aluminium centre poles, and 560 gsm Duracoretex commercial-grade PVC fabric. Double-headed stakes (90 cm × 25 mm) are used for secure anchoring.
How many guests can it accommodate?
It comfortably seats 60–180 people and can hold up to 240 people standing—ideal for dancing or mingling.
Can the marquee be extended or configured differently?
Yes, it’s modular. While it’s designed as a 9 m × 18 m marquee, it can also be erected as 9 m × 12 m, or further extended to 9 m × 24 m, 9 m × 30 m, etc.
Is this suitable for use on hard standing?
Absolutely. The marquee can be installed on hard surfaces such as concrete or tarmac—stake bars can be drilled and bolted in for a solid fix.
Is it waterproof and durable?
The PVC covering is made from high-frequency welded, rip-stop Duracoretex, making it fully waterproof and highly robust—perfect for heavy-duty, repeated use.
What if I need replacement parts or advice?
Replacement parts are readily available, and experienced customer service staff are on hand for support.
Can it be used in winter or extreme conditions?
Yes, though it’s advisable to take extra precautions during snow or severe weather. Additional measures such as snow-clearance plans or enhanced anchoring should be considered.
Does it include all of the ropes and stakes?
Yes, all of the stakes, stake bars ratchets straps and webbing are included with the marquee.
Are the sides included with the marquee?
Yes, all of the sides are included with enough windows to go down either side and walls at the end. All sides are unzippable and interchangeable.

About Portland Marquees
Portland Marquees is an independent family run company dedicated to designing, manufacturing and supplying quality marquees and accessories.
Having built up and successfully run one of the leading marquee hire companies in the UK, we now use that experience in advising other hire companies and designing and supplying commercial quality marquees, linings and accessories.
Portland Marquees:
Portland Marquees was formed by Spencer King having spent over 10 years in the marquee hire industry (due to the sale of the hire company we are contractually not allowed to hire any of our marquees). It has been set up to provide marquee hire companies with high quality marquees and linings whilst also offering advice and industry contacts from experience.
C & D King Ltd:
C & D King Ltd has been manufacturing in the UK since 1979. Although increasingly difficult due to rising costs and increasing red tape we still manufacture as much as possible at our factory in Dorking. Originally set up by Colin & Diana King they have now been joined in the family business by their son Spencer who has added marquee experience to the engineering background of Colin.
We recently calculated the average length our employees have worked for us at over 18 years! That’s longer than most others in the industry have been in business.
